Where you’ll be working Redfern, Canterbury and Marrickville Health Centres. Sydney Local Health District is home to Royal Prince Alfred, Concord, Balmain, Canterbury and Sydney Dental Hospitals. We offer a range of clinical services through our clinics and in our community, near and in people’s homes including Aboriginal Health, Aged Care and Rehabilitation, Allied Health, Drug Health, Oral Health, Community Nursing and Early Childhood Services, Population Health and Mental Health. We also have a range of support teams and services to help deliver the very best health care services to our community.
What you’ll be doing The primary objectives of this position are to: • Work within the Sydney Local Health District (SLHD), Harm Minimisation Program (HMP) to promote improved health outcomes for people who inject drugs. This position will participate in service delivery across the HMP. •Provide a range of harm minimisation interventions for clients of the program, including needle syringe provision; health education; brief intervention and referral (if within skills/scope of practice and qualification). •Develop and participate in projects including: community education, health promotion projects, stakeholder engagement and projects to expand and diversify the HMP. The Aboriginal Case Worker and Support Officer will provide culturally appropriate interventions including community engagement, health education, advocacy, case management, psycho-social support, equipment dispensing, brief interventions, outreach and provide referral pathways for services, both internal and external. The position is a permanent full time role working a 7 day rotating roster across 3 sites at Redfern, Canterbury and Marrickville.
